A few words about Lung Cu flagpole
Lung Cu flagpole is a national flag located at Lung Cu peak, also known as Dragon peak. Located at an altitude of 1470 above sea level, in Lung Cu commune, Dong Van district. During your trip to explore Ha Giang, you cannot miss visiting Lung Cu flagpole because this is a sacred historical work of the people of the whole country.
History of Lung Cu flagpole
Previously, Lung Cu flagpole was built under the Ly dynasty with the shape of just a sa moc tree. In 1887, the French rebuilt it. Then in 1992, 2000 and especially in 2002, this flagpole was restored many times with its size and scale increasing over time. In particular, in 2002, the flagpole was erected with a height of about 20m, the base and pedestal of the pole were hexagonal and at the base of the pole were 6 reliefs with motifs of the surface of Dong Son bronze drums. Moreover, on top of the flagpole is a 9m high flagpole, with the Vietnamese national flag flying with a length of 9m, a width of 6m and a total area of 54 square meters. It was not until later, with the approval of the Prime Minister, that the People’s Committee of Ha Giang province issued a document directing the People’s Committee of Dong Van district to restore and embellish the octagonal shape with a height of over 30m and was inaugurated on September 25, 2010.
The road to Lung Cu flagpole
The road to Lung Cu flagpole has a total of 839 steps divided into 3 different stages.
